Have you ever asked yourself which school would be ideal to bring your children for learning? Then, here’s what we’ve got.
The Twenty First Century Private Academy (TFPCA) in the capital emirate of Abu Dhabi surely would shine as a “Leader in Academic Excellence and Values Education.” In fact, it has earned the title as “Your Child’s Second Home in Abu Dhabi.” What with its primordial concern and admirable aim to promote the values and culture of two countries – United Arab Emirates, as the host country; and the Philippines, the home country.
The school’s principal stressed TFCPA provides an environment of security and tolerance to students from all cultures. “Included is the promise that the parents’ input will be welcomed in the educational needs of the learners. We promote sustainable learning by recognizing and communicating the needs and interests of all students.”
Its academic programs and policies have been meticulously developed to meet the requirements of the K12 Curriculum program and the thrusts of Abu Dhabi Educational Council (ADEC).
“Our educational program has been designed to nurture and nourish all students to develop and enthusiastic and creative minds. Our administrators and faculty regularly attend seminars regularly to review the curriculum, policies, teaching strategies and classroom management for updates and development,” she further said.
Born of a shared vision to offer a Philippine-American curriculum among Filipino expatriate students and other nationalities, TFCPA opened its doors on September 2010 in a closed Arabic school in Muroor Road in Abu Dhabi.
For the founders, there was no turning back as they re-furbished a school to provide a more conducive learning environment for more than 700 students from a closed Philippine school in Abu Dhabi. They were joined by more than 40 dedicated and committed administrators, faculty members and staff. The ADEC was never wrong when it granted the TFCPA approval to operate as a school when it began its classes.
In 2011, TFCPA applied for a permit to operate a Philippine School Overseas with a Philippine Curriculum through the assistance of the Philippine Embassy and the Commission on Filipino Overseas (CFO).
The Department of Education (DepEd) in the Philippines granted on June 14, 2011 the Provisional Government Permit No. 2, s.2011 to TFCPA pursuant to the provisions of Republic Act No. 2706, as amended, and Batas Pambansa Bilang 232 (Education Act of 1982) to adopt the Philippine curriculum of preschool, elementary and secondary level programs. It was a cause for celebration.
To make sure that TFCPA responds to the demands and challenges of the modern times, its operations are being sustained by the management and the charismatic leadership of American Consulting CEO Sultan Al Hosani and Executive Director Worood Sultan with Education Adviser.
TFCPA adheres to the curriculum design from the basic education curriculum to the K12 curriculum from pre-school to elementary and secondary levels prescribed by the DedEd Philippines as approved by ADEC.
The school offers social studies on UAE, Arabic language and Islamic studies for Muslim students both in elementary and secondary levels in strict adherence to the Ministry of Education rule of the host country.
The academic policies such as grading system, periodic examinations, selection of honors and special awards are based on the provisions of the Manual of Regulations for Philippine Schools Overseas (MOPAR) and the school’s internal policies as approved by DepEd and the CFO-PSO.
The TFCPA school year follows the Federal Calendar of ADEC in compliance to the Philippine DepED required number of school days following the minimal number of instructional hours. There are four grading periods in each school year. The quarterly examination, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are scheduled within the Academic Year. Each student is given a copy of the school calendar and the monthly calendar for its updates.
The school provides non-academic programs such as the Al Islam, Chorale, Sports Club, Cybercimatics, Book Lovers Club, Ohebo Al Arabiya Wa, School Newsletter, Little Friends of TFCPA, Supreme Student Council, Future Homemakers Club, Performing Arts Theater Club and UAE Promotion & Awareness Club.
SOARING TO GREATER HEIGHTS
TFCPA is encompassed by a burning desire to guide learners to become confident and inspired individuals in a Philippine curriculum that reaches across the disciplines, culture and age levels in the development of a whole person.
Needless to say but we wish to emphasize that learners are encouraged to meet educational challenges with openness, passion and a willingness to solve problems. The school aims for cooperation, respect for individual differences equipped with strong community values.
As the school envisions to establish a high quality learning community which provides a world-class education to benefit a greater number of populace, we wish those working behind and in the frontlines more laurels on their head.
